Irena Rosa has won the highest award granted by the Slovenian government through the Ministry of Economy, Tourism, and Sport for achievements in sport. The award is named after Stanko Bloudek, a Slovenian aeronautical engineer, sportsman, and the constructor of the ski jumping hill in Planica. The Archers Association of Slovenia nominated Irena Rosa for the 2024 award for lifelong contributions to sport, and she was selected as one of three winners out of 48 eligible nominates.
The nomination reads: " In her role as a member and long-time president of the Ankaran Archery Club, Irena Rosa has made significant contributions to the development of archery and the motivation of its competitors. She represented Slovenia in international competitions for 15 years as a member of the national archery team. She officiated as an International
Judge at European and World Championships and at three Olympic Games. For 10 years, she served as Director of Shooting at European and World Championships, as well as at the Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games. She is an honored member of the Archers Association of Slovenia and a member of its Executive Board. Irena also translated the World Archery
Rulebooks and the Judge’s Guidebook into Slovenian. For over 30 years, she has been educating archery coaches and judges and organizing and managing international competitions. As a member of the World Archery Europe Youth Development Committee, she has worked on staging European Youth Cups and on the development of para-archery, which resulted in two bronze medals at the Paris Paralympic Games for Slovenia.” Slovenian archers know very well that Irena is immensely dedicated to our sport and that she is always working to develop it further. In 2024, she worked as the Competition Manager
for the World Archery 3D Championships in Mokrice, as the Technical Delegate for the European Youth Championships in Ploiesti, and remained active as a member of the Archers Association of Slovenia Executive Board.

For all of her work over the years, Irena was nominated for the Bloudek Award, and we are proud and grateful that the committee chose to recognize her remarkable achievements. We look forward to seeing Irena continue her work in archery, as her experiences are invaluable.
Alongside Irena Rosa, para-archers Živa Lavrinc and Dejan Fabčič also received the Bloudek Award in 2024 for their top achievements in winning bronze medals at the Paris Paralympic Games.
